o House Bill 43- requires the Department of Job and Family Services
to seek a federal waiver to establish an assisted living Medicaid waiver
component and to make an appropriation.
o House Bill 174- expands the authority of the Ohio Board of Regents
to regulate the programs and resources of state institutions of higher
education.
o House Bill 175- limits the salary and employee benefits of certain
executives of state agencies and state-assisted entities.
o House Bill 176- prohibit state agencies and entities that receive
state funds from providing their executive staff with private air travel
or limousine service, to regulate the manner of air and surface travel
for their executive staff, and to generally require that state agencies
and those entities divest themselves of private aircraft and limousines
and private air travel and limousine services.
o House Bill 381- funds the enforcement of predatory lending laws.
o House Bill 387- abolishes the Office of Coastal Management and transfers
its duties to the Division of Soil and Water Conservation all within
in the Department of Natural Resources.
o House Bill 400- revise the distribution of revenues from the severance
tax on industrial minerals, to exempt industrial minerals mining operations
from the state mine safety laws and instead provide for the adoption
of federal mine safety requirements for those operations, to revise
the zoning laws concerning industrial minerals mining, and to make other
changes governing the mining of industrial minerals.
o House Bill 437- require entities receiving state funds to sell only
Ohio products in their gift shops or as memorabilia or gift items and
to require the Department of Natural Resources to use only Ohio products
in operating and maintaining its public service facilities in state
parks.
Mayor of the City of Gahanna, 1983-2001
Took the city from default status to a Double A-3 bond rating.
As the result of a disciplined budget, one-third of city income
was invested in capital improvements, providing state-of-the-art infrastructure
in new roads, water and sewer and city parks.
Brought Gahanna to environmental excellence, which has been recognized
with awards from Keep America Beautiful, National Arbor Day Foundation,
the Soil and Water Conservation District and Rails to Trails.
Restructured and supported a police department that has kept crime
in Gahanna one of the lowest per capita in Central Ohio.
Brought together leaders from Mifflin Township, Jefferson Township,
Gahanna-Jefferson School District and the City of Gahanna for joint
maintenance and purchasing programs thereby allowing each government
to save money.
